Lecture: Documenting African Americans in the Records of Military Agencies

Wednesday, February 7, 2018

Over the past three decades, there has been an ever-increasing interest in the history of African Americans in the military as shown through a wide range of books and films. These works have relied heavily upon the records of the federal government in telling these often neglected stories. Lisha Penn, supervisory archivist at the National Archives, will discuss records of a variety of military agencies that document the African-American experience during times of war, highlighting how you can undertake your own research on this topic.
