WANTED: Montgomery County Director of Parks
The Montgomery County (MD) Planning Board has begun a search for an experienced and creative leader for one of the nation's premier parks departments. With an annual operating budget of over $95 million, a six-year capital budget of $178 million, and an authorized staff of more than 600 park professionals, Montgomery Parks has responsibility for over 420 conservation and recreation parks on more than 35,000 acres – 12% of the county’s total landmass. The Department has a wide variety of responsibilities including planning and stewardship, development, maintenance, management, and operation of all of the amenities, facilities, cultural and historic resources, and protected natural areas in the park system. In addition to managing these diverse functions, the Director of Parks oversees the Department’s 114-member Park Police Division. For detailed information please click the link below.

Purple LIne

Purple Line
Design is currently underway for the Purple Line, a proposed 16-mile light rail line with 21 stations, which will run from Bethesda to New Carrollton and provide direct connections to Metrorail, local and inter-city bus, the MARC train and Amtrak. An east-west route connector for Montgomery and Prince George's counties, the Purple Line has been under study since 1992. Read more»
