M-NCPPC Privacy PolicyOnline Privacy PolicyThank you for visiting the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) web site and privacy policy. We do not collect identifiable information about any individual unless you choose to provide that information to us. We do not give, share, sell, transfer, or rent any personal information to third parties. Some of our web pages (such as feedback/comment forms, complaint forms, registration forms) let you voluntarily submit personal information. In such cases, we provide a notice that explains how we will safeguard your personal information and clearly state the use of the information we collect. What We CollectIf you read pages, download information, and browse through the M-NCPPC web site(s), our web host will automatically record some general information about your visit. For a detailed description of what data is collected see Attachment A. Occasionally we offer visitor surveys. These surveys are user optional and each visitor can decide how much or how little information they wish to provide. We do not give, share, sell, transfer, or rent any personal information to third parties. If you sign up for a newsletter, want a publication sent to you, or wish to complete a transaction (e.g. rent a park facility or register for a program or activity), specific information may be required for registration purposes. This can include: e-mail address, name, address, phone number, and credit card information. Such information may be stored in a database for varying lengths of time, and used by M-NCPPC for the stated purpose. We do not give, share, sell, transfer, or rent any personal information to third parties. Some online features are third party applications (e.g. search engines or special interest e-mail distribution programs). M-NCPPC tries to select firms with privacy policies consistent with our own. Persons under the age of 18 should have the permission of a parent or guardian. However, visitors are advised to read each vendor's privacy statements for complete information. A partial list of vendors with links to their web sites is outlined in Attachment B. CookiesOn certain M-NCPPC web sites, we use "cookies" to help you use our web sites interactively. A cookie is simply a text-only string that gets entered into the memory of a visitor's computer. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personal identifiable information while on our site, but provides information about your browser "session". To protect your privacy, be sure to close your browser completely after you have finished conducting business with any web site that uses cookies. If you are concerned about the potential use of information gathered from cookies, you can set your browser to prompt you before it accepts a cookie. Most Internet browsers have settings that let you identify and/or reject cookies. Your E-MailIf you decide to send an electronic mail message (e-mail), the message will usually contain your return e-mail address. If you include personal identifying information in your e-mail, because you want us to address issues specific to your situation, we may use that information in responding to your request. Please understand that e-mail is not generally secure against interception. Please send only the information necessary to help us process your request. Opting InOccasionally we ask visitors if they would like their data retained for later uses, such as announcements of future events, new publication releases, or changes in class schedules. Visitors must opt-in to receive this information. Following Links Off Our SiteOur policy discloses the privacy practices for the M-NCPPC web site and other sites directly affiliated with the M-NCPPC organization that display our logo. M-NCPPC does provide links to other web sites. When you leave any M-NCPPC web site please be aware that M-NCPPC is not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites. We encourage our visitors to read the privacy statements of each and every one of these web sites. Message BoardsMessage boards may be provided for visitors to share their observations, knowledge, and concerns with others interested in the same topics. Users of these boards are warned not to provide personal information. M-NCPPC cannot be responsible for the release of information voluntarily provided by users via message boards. How To Remove Your InformationWhere a visitor can sign up for a service there will also be instructions on how to cancel that service or change one's personal information. For instance, e-mail lists will provide an unsubscribe or data change link on each mailing. In those instances where a change needs to be made but the mechanism to do so is not included, please contact us with that information in the "How to Contact Us About Your Privacy" section below. Collecting Information From ChildrenM-NCPPC sites are not primarily aimed at the interests of children. However, to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, we include the question "Are you under 13 years of age?" on forms that collect detailed information (name and address). If the visitor indicates that they are under the age of 13, they must provide verifiable parental or guardian consent to complete the form and/or use that portion of the site.
