The Transportation Systems Element of the 2002 Adopted and Approved General Plan updated the County's transportation policies as provided for in the 1982 General Plan, which will require that the Countywide Master Plan of Transportation be updated.
This update will both reflect the new policies in the 2002 General Plan, and will incorporate and update the circulation and transportation recommendations from the area, sector and subregion master plans that have been adopted and approved since 1982.
The Countywide Master Plan of Transportation will consist of three elements: Transit, Trail and Highways. Both future rights-of-way for highways and fixed-guideway transit corridors will be designated and identified on an official MPOT map that will be developed during the MPOT process, to become a set fo official GIS thematic layers for planning and public information.
