The Prince George’s County Planning Department’s Community Planning Division of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is responsible for preparing and processing area master plans, Sectional Map Amendments (SMAs) and community and special study area plans to provide guidance for future development and redevelopment. Community planners work with residents and community stakeholders to identify priorities for communities, create long-range plans, and identify implementation strategies. For community planners to be successful when developing a master plan it is crucial to have active citizen involvement from all aspects of a community. A successful planning process relies on strong partnerships and clear communication between residents and planning staff. The roles and responsibilities of planning staff and the community are posted below in order to further clarify how planning staff will interact with residents during the planning process. If you have any further questions about the plan or would like planning staff to provide a briefing to your community group, please
