Goal
-
Implement
the Transit-Oriented
Development (TOD) policies
recommended in the Prince George's
County General
Plan.
Objective
Develop
a countywide strategic plan for TOD that
will:
-
Identify
the opportunities for and challenges
to achieving significant TOD at transit
facilities -particularly Metrorail
and MARC stations-in the county.
-
Identify
the best and most applicable TOD
practices
elsewhere in the metropolitan area
and the nation, to find out what
market
characteristics attract quality TOD,
particularly mixed-use development.
-
Evaluate the effectiveness of county
regulatory tools, planning and zoning
in attracting TOD, and recommend changes
where necessary.
-
Develop and recommend a community
education and outreach effort to demonstrate
to citizens, local officials and other
stakeholders how TOD achieves the
Smart Growth and other county development
objectives in the General Plan.
