Why
are you called "the Maryland-National Capital
Park and Planning Commission" when you only serve
Prince George's and Montgomery counties?
Article
28 of the Annotated Code of Maryland empowered the
Commission to prepare and administer a General Plan
for the physical development of a Regional District
for the two Maryland counties that border the District
of Columbia, namely Prince George's and Montgomery
counties.
What
are the potentials for career growth at the Commission?
The
potential for career growth requires a combination
of education, experience and opportunity. The Prince
George's Planning Department is a fairly small organization
with about 180 career positions and a normal rate
of turnover. However, our staff have access to career
growth anywhere else in the organization, which includes
several thousand positions Commission-wide.
Are
you part of Prince George's County or Maryland State
government?
No.
We are an independent organization established in
1927 by the Maryland General Assembly to practice
long-range planning and park acquisition and development
for Prince George's and Montgomery counties.
