The following is a summary of benefits extended to all full-time career employees of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). Benefits are approximately 30% of the base salary of a position.

Retirement Programs

• Defined benefit plan -- 3% mandatory employee contribution
• Deferred Compensation IRC 457 plan
(two administrators ICMA & Citistreet/Copeland)

  • 2004 - 25% of salary to a maximum of $13,000; Age 50 Catch-up is an additional $3,000
  • 2005 - 25% pf salary to a maximum of $14,000; Age 40 Catch-up is an additional $4,000

Health Insurance Plans (15% Employee / 85% Commission contributions)

• Aetna Health Plan (HMO)
• Blue Cross Blue Shield Point-of-Service (POS) Plan
• Optimum Choice Health Plan (HMO)
• Caremark Prescription Plan (retail and mail-order)
• MetLife Dental Plan - passive PPO
• Vision Service Plan (20% Employee / 80% Commission contribution)

Flexible Spending Accounts

• Medical account -- Maximum annual contribution is $3,000
• Dependent care account -- Maximum annual contribution is $5,000

Long-Term Disability Insurance  
(20% mandatory Employee / 80% Commission contribution)

• Benefits paid at 66-2/3% of salary, maximum of $4,200/month

Life Insurance/AD&D Insurance
(20% mandatory Employee / 80% Commission contribution)

• Benefit is 2 times base salary; maximum benefit is $200,000

Supplemental Life Insurance (100% Employee)
• Benefit is up to 3 times base salary, maximum benefit is $300,000

Sick Leave Bank

• Contribute 1 day of leave each year
• Eligible for up to 80 work days in a 12-month period

Leave Programs

Annual: 15 days per year
Sick: 15 days per year 
Personal: 3 days per year
Holidays: 10 days per year
