Planning Area 68 is located along the District of Columbia's eastern boundary. It includes the municipalities of Brentwood, North Brentwood, Colmar Manor, Cottage City, Edmonston, Hyattsville, Mount Rainier, Riverdale and University Park as well as the unincorporated Avondale community.
