Performs
technical analyses and offers advice and recommendations
regarding most matters related to existing and future:
– use of land including the enhancement
of the physical environment.
– provision of public facilities
and services
Prepares
land use plans that recommend where roads, housing, parks,
shopping centers and other land uses should be located with
the purpose of using land efficiently and building sound
communities.
Produces
detailed County-wide plans for hiker-biker and equestrian
trails, schools, fire and police stations, highways and
historic preservation.
Assists
municipalities and other bodies to prepare detailed revitalization
plans for older communities.
Advises
the Planning Board on
all applications to subdivide land; advises the County Council
on all zoning applications; and advises the County Executive
on building permits and other matters.
Estimates
how much, what kind, and where growth may occur so that
public funds can be wisely invested.
Analyzes
various trends to forecast future demand for services or
facilities; such as schools, parks and roads.
Protects
residents from flooding by mapping and protecting stream
valleys.
Produces
County-wide and small area maps; has topographic maps and
aerial photographs available for public viewing and/or sale.
Works
on a set of specific projects and tasks annually set forth
in a work program and budget adopted by the Prince George's
County
Council and performs such other tasks in response to emerging
issues as resources permit.
