Softball

The Department of Parks and Recreation offers many opportunities to learn and play the game of softball. Introduce your child to the game through one of our school coach-led clinics, play the game in one of our recreational leagues or our RBI summer league.

Softball: Fundamentals of the Game; Children

Join us for the exciting game of softball. Kids will learn basic softball skills including throwing, catching, fielding, and hitting. If you are new to the sport or want to sharpen your talent, don't miss this class. Make new friendships on the field.

Softball Clinic: Mixed Ages

It's a grand slam! This softball training program is designed to teach fundamental techniques as well as conditioning programs for advanced players to improve their abilities in preparation for high level competition. Build character, self-confidence, and improve your fitness. Come in from the dugout and enhance your game with us!

Softball: Pickup Games

Make softball your favorite season. Drop-in for a pick-up game and show off your softball talent. The game may vary due to the number of kid players. Sign up to gain new softball skills and new friends too. Friendly competition will help you play big at any age with confidence. Prior softball, baseball, or t-ball experience is encouraged.

League Play

Spring leagues are offered for participants aged 9-12 in cooperation with the Prince George’s County Boys & Girls Club. Games are played between May 1st and June 30th. Leagues are set up for the following levels of play: Kid Pitch-Minors(ages 9-11) and Kid Pitch-Majors(ages 11-12). League age is based on your child’s age as of January 1st of the current year. RBI Softball League:

For the older ages, The Department of Parks and Recreation is an official MLB/RBI League. MLB/RBI is an initiative developed to “Revive Baseball in Inner Cities”. There is one division for play ages 13-18. League play begins in May and registration starts in April. All-Stars from this league will be selected to represent Prince George’s County in the MLB/RBI Mid-Atlantic Regional in Late July. Prince George’s County RBI has a rich history of participation and hopes to continue to grow the program. Registration is held either by team or individual players.
