Teen Performance Ensemble Artistic Director

The TPE Artistic Director will serve as the artistic lead for a touring summer theatrical production for teens that includes leading rehearsals, supervising actors on tour, and providing enrichment training in theatre arts. The selected candidate must have experience directing plays and working with adolescents.

Rehearsal Schedule: TBA
Location: Publick Playhouse
Rehearsal Time: 6-8 pm 
Date Range: April 16 – June 23
Tour Schedule TBA
Meet up location: Prince George’s Ballroom
Work Time: 9 am – 3 pm
Date Range: June 25 – August 19

Duties include but are not limited to: 
• Conducting auditions
• Select and supervise cast of teen actors
• Develop an artistic vision and plan for the selected script.
• Coordinate aspects of technical production
• Attend and supervises all rehearsals
• Collaborate with Musical Director and Costume/Props Designer.
• Plan theatre workshops for participants in preparation for their performance tour 
• Maintain clear communication with Artistic Staff and Arts Specialist to ensure a smooth flow of activities.
• Help supervise teen performance ensemble on tour.
• Report to Arts Specialist
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary: $24/hr - $26/hr
Hours: Part-time; 20 to 30 hours a week based on needs of program

Teen Performance Ensemble Company Manager 

The TPE Company Manager will serve as onsite lead for the Teen Performance Ensemble Summer Tour. The Company Manager will be responsible for assisting with rehearsals, transporting and supervising teen actors on tour, and serving as onsite coordinator. Candidate must be able to drive a vehicle. Experience working in Theatre and with adolescents required.

Meet up location: Prince George’s Ballroom 
Work Time: 9 am – 3 pm 
Date Range: June 25 – August 19 

Duties include but are not limited to: 
• Support Artistic Director at rehearsals including taking attendance and setting up rehearsal.
• Supervise a cast of teen actors during rehearsals and on tour.
• Transport students and equipment to each tour site
• Lead on-site event setup and clean up 
• Ensure the Teen Performance Ensemble vehicle is properly maintained, fueled, cleaned, and packed up with supplies for events
• Serve as onsite point of contact at tour locations.
• Keep a clear line of communication with Artistic Staff and Arts Specialist to ensure a smooth flow of activities.
• Maintain document event logs and other needed program documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary: $18/hr - $20/hr 
Hours: Seasonal; Part-time; 20 to 30 hours a week based on needs of program

Teen Performance Ensemble Costume and Props Maker

The TPE Costume Designer and Prop maker will collaborate with the Artistic Director to develop costume designs and prop ideas for the Teen Performance Ensemble. The designer will then create durable costumes and props to be used for the upcoming Summer Tour and future events.

Duties include but are not limited to: 

• Collaborating with Artistic Director to determine vision and design of costumes and props.
• Attending select rehearsals to work with cast and crew on developing costume and prop needs.
• Taking the lead in procuring needed materials.
• Ensuring the utilization of durable materials for costumes and props so they may be used in future productions.
• Maintain a schedule to deliver materials at least 2 weeks prior to beginning of the tour.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Stipend: $3,500; includes funds for supplies.

Performing Arts Assistant

The Performing Arts Assistant will serve as administrative support for the Prince George’s Parks and Recreation Arts and Cultural Heritage Division Arts Specialist. The assistant will support onsite logistical needs of the artistic staff at rehearsals and performances at venues across Prince George’s County. The assistant will also help distribute and collect surveys. 

Duties include but are not limited to: 

• Help organizing and preparing supplies for multiple events at various locations.
• Assist with on-site event setup and clean up 
• Serve as a lead on onsite assessment distribution and collection at events.
• Help maintain an inventory of all supplies and materials.
• Support onsite audience engagement tables including t-shirt sales, distributing information and promoting future events.
• Assist with development and supervision of volunteer program, serving as point of contact for volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary: $16/hr-$18/hr
Hours: Seasonal; Part-time; 20 to 30 hours a week based on needs of program

Shakespeare In the Parks Company Manager

The Shakespeare In the Parks Company Manager will work closely with the cast and crew to provide support in communication, transportation, scheduling, rehearsals, and performances. The Company Manager will also serve as the onsite point of contact with venues on the tour. Candidate must be able to drive a vehicle. Experience working in Theatre required.

Rehearsal Schedule 
Location: Clarice Performing Arts Center
Rehearsal Time: 7:30-10:30 pm on Weekdays; 10 am – 3 pm on Saturdays
Date Range: May 29 – June 17, 2023

Tech Rehearsal
Location: Bowie Center for the performing Arts 
Rehearsal Time: 7:30-10:30 pm
Date Range: June 20 – June 24, 2023

Tour Schedule 
Location: 12 site tour across various locations in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties
Performance Time: 7 pm – 8:30 pm (except for select sites with earlier events).
Date Range: June 25 – July 23, 2023

Duties include but are not limited to: 

• Supervising a cast of professional actors during rehearsals and on tour.
• Coordinating and distributing a daily schedule for rehearsals
• Supporting Artistic Director at rehearsals including taking attendance and set up/break down of rehearsal space.
• Serving as a liaison between the artistic staff and cast by providing actors with regular updates on rehearsal and tour logistics
• Keeping a clear line of communication with Artistic Staff and Arts Specialist to ensure a smooth flow of activities.
• Transporting equipment to each tour site
• Helping ensure the SITP Truck and additional vehicles are properly maintained, fueled, cleaned, and packed up with supplies for events.
• Serving as point of contact with venue at tour sites.
• Maintaining document event logs and other needed program documentation.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Salary: $22/hr - $24/hr
Hours: Seasonal; Part-time; 20 to 30 hours a week based on needs of program

Artists on the Rise: Eleventh Annual Juried Teen Exhibition


Montpelier Arts Center presents Artists on the Rise!, an annual juried teen exhibition held in the galleries of Montpelier and designed to provide local teens with an opportunity to showcase their artistic accomplishment in a professional setting.

Awards will be given for First Place ($200), Second Place ($150), Third Place ($100), and Honorable Mention ($25).
