Anacostia River Trail

The Anacostia River Trail is now complete. Go out and see it! The new trail connects you to Washington D.C.

About the Trail

The new trail connects the Anacostia Tributary Trail System in Maryland to the Anacostia Riverwalk in Washington, D.C. It creates a network of over 40 miles of trail. The trail network links Prince George's and Montgomery Counties to the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, National Stadium and eventually to the National Mall.

The last segment opened on October 31, 2016, with trail enthusiasts, US Senator Benjamin Cardin and U.S. Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton in attendance to celebrate.
