All players must provide their own hockey equipment to include a helmet, stick, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow & shin pads, and hockey skates.

Tucker Road Ducks Coaches Bios
Brennen Smith
Brennen Smith is the new Head Coach for the Tucker Road Ducks. Brennen brings four years of collegiate coaching experience and over 20 years of playing experience to the Tucker Road Ducks Ice Hockey Team. As a USA Hockey Certified Coach, Brennen currently serves as an Assistant Coach on the University of Maryland’s ACHA Division II Team. Before coaching, Brennen played collegiate hockey at Ithaca College, competing in the Northeast Collegiate Hockey League of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. He is a born-and-raised Marylander who currently resides in DC and works as a Digital Marketing Analyst. With Brennen, we anxiously look forward to continual program growth.

- How do I register for the program?

Registration is held throughout the season. Register on pgparksdirect.com. Enter ‘TRIRDUCKS’ into the search bar and select a class to view dates, times, and details.
- Does my child need to know how to skate?
-
Preferred but not required. Learn to Skate and Learn to Play programs are available at the Tucker Road Ice Rink and we encourage participation. Our USA Hockey certified coaches work with kids of all skill levels to enhance skating, speed, and hockey skills while also teaching team concepts and systems.
- Are the coaches qualified?

Yes. All of our coaches are USA Hockey certified and are required to renew their certifications annually, which includes a background check.
- What equipment is required for my child?

Players are required to have their own equipment including helmets, sticks, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow and shin pads, and hockey skates. The Tucker Road Parent Hockey Organization (TRPHO) can provide hockey equipment in the event kids need support.
- How often do the Ducks skate?

Typically, the team skates 2-3 times per week. Practice is held at Tucker Road Ice Rink. Times and dates to be determined. Once available, information will be sent by rink management to all registrants via email.
- Will you have schedule of games?

Yes. We will schedule several scrimmages/recreational games with other youth teams.

The TRPHO is a non-profit 501c3 that consists of season hockey parents, community leaders, and members dedicated and committed to the success of the Tucker Road Ducks Youth Ice Hockey Program and the Rink. TRPHO continually advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion. #RepresentationMatters and
#HockeyIsForEveryone, regardless of a family’s ethnicity or socio-economic status. TRPHO plans team events, provides educational and other resources, skills development, meet and interact with professional hockey players, attend street hockey events, and advancement. We bring awareness and exposure to the sport and assist with recruitment efforts and equipment needs in an effort to eliminate barriers.
