Greater Upper Marlboro Revitalization & Development

Background & Purpose

The 2009 Subregion 6 Master Plan and Sectional Map Amendment contains a number of policies intended to "support redevelopment and infill development in existing and planned development areas over ‘green field' development that takes up natural resource lands." The master plan emphasizes the need to develop focused strategies for the industrial area east of the Town of Upper Marlboro because of its strategic location at one of the entrances to the county seat and the U.S. 301/MD 4 interchange. This study will provide land use recommendations and a redevelopment plan for the Greater Upper Marlboro area. An illustrated urban design plan with specific guidelines for streetscape improvements along MD 725 also will be included.
