Accokeek Heritage Tourism Study
Undertaken for the Greater Accokeek Civic Association, the Accokeek Foundation, and the Alice Ferguson Foundation, the Accokeek Heritage Tourism Study will identify and analyze heritage resources and the pressures they face, determine how best to make those resources known or better known, and identify common heritage themes to enhance connectivity and accessibility.
Solutions identified in the study will not threaten the resources themselves or the community’s quality of life. The study will focus on the four major categories of resources described within the 2013 Approved Subregion 5 Master Plan, Planning Areas 83 and 84 (portions of): archeological, historical, and cultural resources; architectural resources; natural resources; and recreational resources.
The final draft study is being edited for publication and will be published in the spring.
