City of College Park Age-Friendly Action Plan
The City of College Park is applying to be a member of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, which serves as a catalyst to educate local leaders and encourage them to implement the types of changes that make communities more livable for people of all ages, especially older adults. Members of the network are required to engage in a community needs assessment and adopt an "Age-Friendly Action Plan." This plan will be tailored to fit the College Park community’s demographics, organizational structure, and other characteristics. The College Park Seniors Committee has identified five livability initiatives, or "domains," of community life on which to focus:
- Transportation
- Housing
- Social participation
- Communication and information
- Health services and community support
A city council work session to review the draft action plan was held June 7. The consultant is revising the draft plan.
