At the request of the County Executive’s Office, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is constructing a new headquarters building in Downtown Largo. The building will serve as the primary administrative offices for the Prince George’s County Planning Board, the Prince George’s County Department of Planning, and the Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation. This new state-of-the-art building will provide the necessary space needed as we relocate from Upper Marlboro, Riverdale, and Walker Drive; support the implementation of the General Plan by incentivizing the development of Downtown Largo; and provide a new exciting community amenity.

WHY LARGO HQ?

  • The Planning Board and Planning Department were told to move from their current offices in Upper Marlboro, but they could not move into the Wayne K. Curry building as previously planned.
  • The County Executive’s Office directed M-NCPPC to move to Downtown Largo and to increase its building size to comply with the Blue Line Corridor Plan.
  • To comply with the directive from the County Executive’s Office, the Department of Parks and Recreation was asked to join Largo HQ.
  • M-NCPPC has scattered locations in Prince George’s County and is paying for leased office space. In addition, the Planning Board, Planning Department, and the Department of Parks and Recreation offer services to the public, so co-location in one building will consolidate operations and increase efficiency.
  • Largo HQ will be impactful for the surrounding community and be an economic driver for the County.

BUILDING SPECIFICATIONS

  • Retail Space on the Ground Floor
  • Indoor Public Meeting Spaces including a 250-seat Auditorium 
  • Outdoor Amphitheater for Community Events
  • LEED & Fitwel Certified 
  • One-Stop-Shop for Key Community Services Provided by M-NCPPC
