During the development of the Subregion 4 Master Plan, community residents, businesses, elected officials, property owners, development investors, and other stakeholders were engaged extensively over an 18-month process.
The Corridor Sectional Map Amendment Project consists of 3 components: legislation to amend the Zoning Ordinance, a Sectional Map Amendment (SMA), and comprehensive urban design guidelines.
The Central Avenue Corridor has unique physical, historic, and cultural characteristics and serves as a gateway to Prince George's County. Using qualitative and quantitative research tools, the Marketing and Economic Development Project will develop a snapshot of the corridor's assets and priorities and translate them into a marketing and economic development campaign.
The recently approved Subregion 4 Master Plan defines a comprehensive set of neighborhood preservation strategies that will be refined through the Neighborhood Conservation Project by area residents and prioritized and programmed in conjunction with key county, state, and federal agencies.
In July 2010, M-NCPPC received a Transportation/Land Use Connections technical assistance grant from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. Under this grant, the Station Access, Pedestrian Safety and Streetscape Improvements Project will receive technical assistance in analyzing pedestrian safety and station access within the Central Avenue TOD Corridor.
