In July 2010, M-NCPPC received a Transportation/Land Use Connections technical assistance grant from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. Under this grant, the Station Access, Pedestrian Safety and Streetscape Improvements Project will receive technical assistance in analyzing pedestrian safety and station access within the Central Avenue TOD Corridor. The results of the analysis will be used to develop a pedestrian safety and streetscape improvements plan for the Central Avenue Corridor between the Capitol Heights and Addison Road-Seat Pleasant Metro Stations.
Milestones
Conduct a community outreach plan to obtain community input on pedestrian access and safety issues.
Prepare a preliminary pedestrian safety and access report that includes practical pedestrian - and bicycle-friendly strategies along with potential funding sources.
