Echoes of the Enslaved - Conversation Circle & Campout (REGISTRATION CLOSED)

Reservations are no longer being accepted for this event. There is no waitlist, but please call us with questions. The Echoes of the Enslaved event series is part of a unique two-day commemoration held with the generous cooperation of The Slave Dwelling Project (www.slavedwellingproject.org). Three public events will address the lasting legacies of chattel slavery in Prince George's County and discuss archaeological discoveries that have provided insight into the daily lives of individuals who left little or no written record.
Connect with community members, scholars, and genealogists as we gather near the spot where archaeologists have discovered slave quarters once stood. Be inspired by a thought-provoking conversation around a bonfire to discuss race, history, and healing. When the fire is extinguished, participants are invited to camp in the fields where the ancestors once slept.
Participants can also choose to join ONLY the conversation circle from 6:30 to 10 pm
