Film Screening: Crip Camp
Tuesday, February 28, 2023
Join us for a screening of the documentary “Crip Camp.” This film highlights a group of activists that helped fight for disability rights in the United States. Featured in the film is Brad Lomax, a Howard University student and one of the founders of the Washington, D.C. Black Panther Party who used his affiliation with the party to help sustain the 504 protests in San Francisco in 1977. The passing of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act would lay the groundwork for future laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. After the film screening, there will be a panel discussion about the relationship between disability and civil rights activists.
