RIVERDALE, Md. – In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County presents Latinas in Aviation Global Festival at the College Park Aviation Museum and Airport on September 14, 10 am – 4 pm. This special cultural event honors and celebrates the trailblazing Latinas who have soared to new heights and opened doors for future generations in the aviation industry.
“Latinas in Aviation Global Festival allows the College Park Aviation Museum to be more inclusive in interpretation and connects us more meaningfully with our local Hispanic community,” said Dr. Nadine Boksmati-Fattouh, Museum Director at the College Park Aviation Museum. “In its fourth year, this event brings the community together and continues to inspire and empower young girls and provides resources and mentorship to those interested in an aviation career.”

WHEATON, Md.—Montgomery Parks urges patrons to use caution when recreating on or near Lake Needwood and Lake Frank located within Rock Creek Regional Park due to potential risks associated with high levels of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). Water samples from both lakes are currently being evaluated by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) to determine if levels are harmful. Visual indicators including discolored water and algal mats have been observed in portions of both lakes. Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) can produce dangerous levels of toxic microcystin (accessible PDF) .
Riverdale, MD – Today the Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County, part of M-NCPPC, proudly announced its Safe Summer campaign – an initiative designed to provide Teens and Pre-teens an array of programming, activities, and events this season. The Safe Summer 2024 campaign is designed to empower and inspire youth to go outside for recreation in safe spaces and will include late-night recreation. With a steadfast commitment to providing enriching experiences while prioritizing safety, the Department is poised to offer a summer filled with growth, fun, and adventure.
Safe Summer will offer various programs for ages 10-17 from Memorial weekend through Labor Day at the Department’s Parks, Pools, and Community Centers throughout the county. Each program provides a nurturing environment where youth can thrive, explore new interests, and build valuable skills. From swimming, to sports, to volunteering, Safe Summer offerings ensure that every participant finds an activity that resonates with their passions and aspirations.
The Department recognizes the importance of fostering a safe environment for Teens and Pre-teens to explore, learn, and connect; and is delighted to unveil a variety of programs designed to cater to the interests of local youth.
